We provide a wide variety of techniques and modalities of massage therapy.  Continuing
education classes ensure that our licensed massage therapists are trained in both traditional and
modern techniques.  Here are a few examples of the modalities we offer:

Deep Tissue:

This is a massage technique intended for those experiencing muscle fatigue, spasms, chronic pain
and limited range of motion.  Deep tissue massage consists of advanced techniques of Swedish
massage usually applied using the knuckle, forearm, and/or elbow. Individuals may experience
soreness within the next 24 hours after this massage due to the amount of pressure used on the
muscles.  If this is the case, please refer to the FAQ section of our website and follow the
directions under “Why do I feel sore and stiff after a massage?”

Myofascial Release:

Myofascial release employs deep tissue massage techniques to release tension carried in the
fascia.  Fascia are bands or sheaths of connective tissue that binds together internal organs,
muscle, and other parts of the body.

Trigger Point Therapy:

Trigger point therapy is a technique designed to loosen and relax muscles, increase blood
circulation to affected areas, and deactivate the trigger points.  This technique involves applying
strokes to warm up the area and then by applying pressure on tight muscle contractions. The
amount of pressure used is determined by the patience’s tolerance. You will know if you have a
trigger point when you apply pressure to a specific muscle and it refers pain to another portion of
your body.

Swedish:

Swedish massage is a basic form of massage that combines light to moderate strokes, friction and
kneading techniques on muscles, increasing blood circulation, stimulate the lymphatic system,
and increase overall energy.  Our clients find it great for overall relaxation and stress reduction.

Sports:

This technique primarily consists of mostly applying stretches to relieve tension in various
muscles throughout the body to relieve those taut muscles. Sports massage is also great for
preparing athletes or sports enthusiasts for peak performance, increase energy, reduce tension,
promote flexibility, and to prevent injuries.

Reflexology:

This technique is based on the theory that the human body has its own internal energy lines and
that symptoms can arise from an imbalance of this energy. The feet represent a map of the body’
s muscles and organs. Thumb and finger pressure is used to massage areas of the feet that
correspond to other parts of the body and relieve those symptoms.
